Re: USB Communication Cable

Rose Pryor

I have a usb to pcmia cable for the 2144 machine. I have 4D FILE ASSISTANT installed on windows 10 computer. I also have the Premier Plus 2 complimentary software installed on the computer (for very basic manipulation of designs, and for the Explorer plugin to view embroidery files in explorer).  All are on my old laptop which I will give to my granddaughter with the 2144/70 machine.  I have been able to transfer stitch files and embroidery files to the machine via the cable. It works consistently now.
there is little memory on the machine for embroidery designs because of all the stitch files I have added, so I just "SEND" them to the machine in temporary memory. It works. I couldn't get the serial to usb converter cable to work. But I found this usb one which I had purchased long ago. So I didn't work with the serial cable any more.  I now need to see if the 4D card station will work with the setup.

Hi everybody, hope all are doing good and safe. I have a pfaff creative 2170 embroidery machine, which is not working because the motherboard is not available to replace. The machine does only straight stitch now. I have all the parts that come with it and I am planning to part with it. I live in Abudhabi  UAE .Anyone  living in this part of the world can pm me if they need the parts. Also I have a continuous embroidery hoop which is rarely used.

Thank you and stay safe,

piachi

Good luck Rose teaching your granddaughter your machine. Once she learns it I'm sure she will love it as much as you do. I had the same Pfaff as you do but my mother board died and the repairman said there was no way to bring her back to life.
I did love it for all it could do. So I upped my game and bought a 12 needle embroidery Highland machine which I love, but I still hope to one day to get a Pfaff again.

Take care.

I am setting up my machine for my granddaughter, and since I need to teach her how to use it, I needed to refresh my memory. I am still impressed with how awesome this machine is. As a sewing machine it's great.  I am just going over the great number of stitches I have loaded onto the machine. And I have a great many I designed in STITCH ARTIST (original software program). MOst of them stitch out just fine, but some I need to delete and turn into embroidery designs. Sewing maxi stitches on fabric on the sewing mode is very tricky. Putting them into the hoop would be a solution.

Years ago I made a STITCH NOTEBOOK with all the built in stitches and a lot of my own stitches.  That took me several days of continuous sewing.  I can give that to my granddaughter as a reference tool. Nothing like seeing the actual stitches on fabric.

Next I need to do some embroidery to remember how to do that. I do remember it was frustrating as I really had to keep track of the colors in order. Today's machines are far more helpful.

Re: Blank Creative Card Problems

Rose Pryor

I have a 4D card station that I've just started using. When I first tried it out, it read the design cards I had. there was a green light that lit up when the card was inserted.  I was using 4D file assistant. and it also worked with 5D file assistant.  But the next day, I don't get the green light no matter what card I put in.  What happened?  I've only used it twice!

I have been reading alot of great things about the 1222e.  I have never owned one but would like to purchase one in good condition.  Please let me know if you know of anyone that would like to sell theirs.

Thanks

Re: USB Communication Cable

I’d suggest you get a new cable or try one that is working with one of the other computers.  I have a 2140/70 and use a serial to USB patch cord.  A few years ago I had a very long cord that wound around the edges of the sewing room.  It worked well, until one day, it didn’t.  I replaced it with a shorter cord that reaches across the room and solved the problem.  I just can’t leave the cord in place all the time.

4D smart cart station

I installed the cd with the 4D file assistant program on it.  The card station worked yesterday, but today it says there is no card in the station. I have the card in, and I tried various cards.   Yesterday, I saw a green light when I put the card in. I don't see that today.  what happened?  Anyone know what I should do?   I'm trying to give my granddaughter my old machine and design cards.

How did you make a shorter cable?   That may be my problem???  The cable works with two of my more recent laptops, but not my oldest one from 2011.  All are running windows 10.  It won't recognize the creative card station either which is directly connected to my computer.  Is there a driver I may need?

I have a 2144/70 and I am using the usb cable to card connection on windows 10.  Also, I have the 4D creative card station. I installed the 4D file assistant software (not requiring a dongle) onto my computer/s  I have three computer laptops. All running windows 10.  It works just fine on my new laptop. And on my second one as well, But it won't connect on my xps laptop. The setup is the same on all three computers :  windows 10.  4D file assistant. Creative card station connected directly to computer. usb cable to 2144 set up with direct connection to computer.  Can't figure it out.   Is there a driver I am missing? Where could I get it?
HELP.  I want to give this 2144 to my granddaughter. I can't give her my software requiring a dongle, because I use it. Rose

Re: Pfaff 2144 embroidery unit /hoop comm

In my case the magnets were ok on the hoop but my embroidery unit had not totally clicked into place when I looked at it closely. So I just pushed it tighter to the bed of the machine a d it worked fine.

There are Pfaff groups on Facebook, might be worth checking out. I always  look on EBay.

Re: 2144 and 130x130 hoop question

Edith Thornburg

Thanks all for the responses! I think it is more of a machine upgrade that needs to be done, upgrading it from 2144 to 2170. The hoop works on the 2170 I have and other hoops work on the 2144.
I was wondering if there is something I can do, or if I need to have a local shop do it for me?
Edith

Re: 2144 and 130x130 hoop question

Check to make certain the embroidery unit is connected to the machine..if there is a gap between the arm if the machine and the embroidery unit, the hoop will not be recognized..it happened to me and fortunately I spotted it without having to take my machine for a checkup!
